Neal Bhatia, MD

Dr. Neal Bhatia is a board-certified dermatologist in San Diego, California. He serves as Director of Clinical Dermatology at Therapeutics Clinical Research. He is as chief medical editor for Practical Dermatology.

He has a background in immunology and has interests in mechanisms of therapy, skin cancer, and medical dermatology.

Matthew Zirwas, MD

Matthew Zirwas, MD is an American Board of Dermatology certified physician. He is a nationally known expert who has been specializing in contact dermatitis, pruritus, atopic dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis for the last 20 years.


His passion figuring out the real, practical, take-home messages that we can get from the medical literature. Not just reciting ‘the data’ or what the authors said, but synthesizing it and putting it in the context of how it can help patients. Basically figuring out ‘what this study REALLY means’ and ‘how does this connect to what we already know’, then explaining it in a practical, relatable, entertaining and memorable way.


In addition to the practical experience that comes from taking care of challenging patients, he has published over 200 peer reviewed articles, been an investigator on over 80 clinical trials, co-authored the 7th edition of Fisher’s Contact Dermatitis, and has given over 200 national continuing medical education lectures to his peers.

In Dr. Zirwas’s free time, he enjoys spending time with his kids and cats. In that order.

Peter Lio, MD

Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology & Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Peter Lio, MD, FAAD is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology & Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and an adjunct Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Lio received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed his internship in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital, and his Dermatology training at Harvard where he served as Chief Resident in Dermatology. While at Harvard, he received formal training in acupuncture.

Dr. Lio is the founding director of the Chicago Integrative Eczema Center and a founding partner of Medical Dermatology Associates of Chicago. He serves as a board member and scientific advisory committee member emeritus for the National Eczema Association.

He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s Atopic Dermatitis Expert Resource Group, a Councilor for the International Eczema Council, and is a founding faculty member of the Integrative Dermatology Certificate Program. He has over 400 publications and 4 textbooks.

With a proven track record of leadership and a passion for education, she has made significant contributions to the department and the broader medical community.

Dr. Tarbox is a recipient of numerous awards and serves on several professional boards and committees.
